Some uses of blockchain you probably wouldn’t have guessedMay 4th, 2018
Blockchain has definitely become a buzzword in the last few years. In 2018 it has become as popular as ever, raising the value of the stocks of companies which simply contain the word “Blockchain” or are working on implementing the blockchain technology for one of many industries.
Some of the blockchain based companies and projects are looking to compete with existing centralized services while other try to create new services or products which were not possible only a decade ago based on the blockchain tech.
Here are some of the latest blockchain based projects which can change the way we live
Blockchain for traveling
Smart Trip is a project which is still in planning but once it is developed it can change the way we plan our travels altogether. It includes providing options for booking just about any travel related service including hotel and flight booking without an intermediary, and to organize just about any trip. We will be able to seamlessly locate fellow tourists and gain access to useful traveling tips as well as to a phrasebook in the local language compiled by local users. The Smart Trip project will use an ERC-20 compatible token system which can interact with the traditional fiat currencies and the native tokens of the system.
Blockchain and the entertainment industry
Another project which is underway, called the White Rabbit is blockchain based and will allow anybody interested in the entertainment industry or anybody wanting to find a certain movie or TV series production to easily find it and buy it legally. This could tackle the growing problem of piracy and illegal downloads which many people resort to due to not being able to find where to watch a movie or series of their choice legally.
The White Rabbit browser plugin will operate on blockchain and allow users find any TV series or movie and buy it and watch or download it legally. The potential problem is that the system uses its own tokens for these transactions and it is not clear whether the entertainment industry companies will be willing to accept it as a method of payment for their products. But overall this sounds like a wonderful blockchain project allowing for everybody to gain access to anything they want to view at all times.
Blockchain-based government services
Being one of the most cryptocurrency friendly countries in the world, Estonia could become the first ones whose government is run based on blockchain solutions. Today people in Estonia can officially exchange bitcoins and can run an ICO. The e-Residency blockchain based program includes the use of digital IDs by the Estonian residents for crossing the border, for paying for public transport, for buying prescribed medication and for signing any administrative document via the blockchain system. The E-Residency system is available to all other people in the world.
ID verification with blockchain
Civic offers a blockchain based solution allowing for users to verify their own or somebody else’s identification remotely and safely. It can be used as a website certificate or for other cases when ID verification is required. At the same time, the user’ identity remains safely held in the unhackable and secure blockchain.
These are just some of the fascinating ways in which blockchain can change our lives and make them easier, more secure and less expensive. We are about to become witnesses to a true blockchain based revolution pretty soon, so get ready!
Ways to decrease the cost of your mobile app development
With more businesses realizing the growing popularity and use of mobile apps by their potential customers, partners and other interested parties, more of them are planning on offering their customers their own mobile apps.
This though can turn out to be quite an expensive proposition, so here are some ways to reduce the cost of the development of your company app, and let it fit into your budget:
Before jumping into the actual development of your app, make sure you take the time to brainstorm your ideas for what your app will need to offer your customers. This is crucial, as people today want easy to use apps which provide them with instant access to the information they need. So, think about what your customer really needs as you are throwing out those ideas on the drawing board beforehand.Planning your mobile app can save you a lot of money from having to drop the development and change strategies in the middle of the process due to new ideas appearing.
Actually, sketch the design of your app
Sketch out what you would like the interface of your mobile app to look like before presenting it to a professional mobile app developer. This will give the developer an idea of what type of interface to incorporate in your app so that it meets yours and your customers’ expectations. This will save time for the development and thus lower the cost significantly.
Choose the platform for your mobile app
Find out which platform is preferred by your customers before deciding which platform your app will be available for. You can opt for an app which is available for all popular mobile operating systems (Android, iOS, and Windows), but if you can narrow down the options this could turn out much less of an expensive endeavor and can improve your chances of getting a better ROI.
Outsource the mobile app development
In-house mobile app development can turn out to be very costly especially if you don’t have a developer or team dedicated to developing apps already. If you outsource the development process to a third party you will have to pay them only for the work done or by the hour, instead of a full salary. Professional mobile app developers are also most likely to be able to create a better app due to their knowledge and previous experience.
Use plugins for improving the functionality of the app
This will save you time and money especially if you already have design templates for plugins. By integrating pre-existing plugins into your app you will reduce the cost of its development and will be able to make them even more personalized for your customers and other users.
Use any existing technologies
By using any existing frameworks or templates existing in your in-house development department or when hiring a professional mobile app development company to do the job for you, the process of simply tweaking the existing templates to meet your needs will make the cost for development of the app much lower!
Apart from the planning and execution of the development, you need a company or expert who can do all the tweaking and testing, as well as fixing problems with your app. If you choose a company which provides such complex services, you will no doubt get a less expensive service, because most companies offer package deals for their mobile app testing, development and upgrading services.
